Dear Colleagues,

We inform you that, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the International Scientific Conference “Earth and Space” commemorating the birth centenary of Professor Kirill Ya. Kondratyev scheduled for 15-16 June 2020, in St. Petersburg, has been postponed to 20-21 October 2020.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

The deadline for accepting applications to participate in the conference was extended to 15 June 2020.

The Organizing Committee continues to work on collecting the Conference materials. Acceptance of such materials has been extended until the end of June 2020. Authors of papers are allowed to make additional editorial changes to the original texts by 30 June 2020. After this date, the Conference Program will be finalized.

International Scientific Conference
“EARTH and SPACE”
commemorating the birth centenary of Professor Kirill Ya. Kondratyev

 

The date June 14, 2020, will mark the 100th birth anniversary of the outstanding geophysicist, world-famous scientist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, honored scientist of the Russian Federation and member of several international scientific societies Professor Kirill Ya. Kondratyev.

To commemorate Professor Kondratyev’s birth centenary, the Saint-Petersburg Scientific-Research Centre for Ecological Safety of RAS jointly with the Saint-Petersburg Research Center of RAS will host the International Scientific Conference “EARTH and SPACE” in the city of St. Petersburg, Russia on June 15–16, 2020.

The program of the Conference will cover the following themes organized in sessions:
(I) Research of the Earth from Space:

- complex experiments in the Earth-atmosphere system;
˗ results of implementation of the Pan-Eurasian Experiment (PEEX) Science Plan;
˗ methods of remote monitoring of natural-economic systems;
˗ solar radiation and atmospheric dynamics.

(II) Climate Problems and Remote Sensing:
˗ climate variability under current conditions;
˗ terrestrial and ocean ecosystems dynamics and their impact on the climate;
˗ air pollution and anthropogenic climate change;
˗ minor gaseous components and their effect on climate variability.

(III) Geopolitics, Ecodynamics, and Environmental Safety. Arctic Environmental Problems:
˗ global problems of the nature-society system dynamics;
˗ analysis of the environmental dynamics in the Arctic and its role in global-scale processes;
˗ the Northern Sea Route and predictive assessment of the implications of anthropogenic activities in the Arctic region;
˗ transboundary air pollution transport;
˗ ensuring environmental safety of the Arctic region;
˗ new astrophysical researches investigating the Universe.

(IV) Earth Sciences Research (Young Scientists Section):
˗ current studies of the Earth’s atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere;
˗ further development of lidar, microwave radiometry, radar, and gas analysis techniques for observations from ground-based and mobile facilities (satellites, airborne laboratories, and UAVs);
˗ modeling of processes in the ocean and atmosphere.

The Conference will bring together Russian and foreign scientists, researchers, academics, students, and graduate students whose scientific interests lie in above-mentioned areas.

The presentation form at the Conference – oral and poster:
Plenary presentation: 20-30 minutes
Oral report: 10-15 minutes (report and 5 minutes questions);
Poster presentation: format A1-594 cm × 841 cm.
Working languages – Russian and English.

A selection of papers will be recommended to publish in a special issue of Remote Sensing Letters.


In order to take part in the Conference it is necessary to send the completed application form with abstract included to the Organizing Committee.

There is no fee for participation in the Conference.
