Основные направления исследований:

1.    Проблема новых («появляющихся») загрязнителей окружающей среды. Нецелевой («проба неизвестного состава») и целевой анализ новых и малоизученных загрязнителей окружающей среды в водных объектах Северо-Западного региона.
2.     Проблема вредоносных «цветений» водоемов: исследование структуры фитопланктонных сообществ и их токсичных метаболитов.
3.    Разработка аналитических процедур для определения следовых количеств антропогенных и природных экотоксикантов в объектах окружающей среды.
4.      Инструментальные физико-химические методы аналитической химии (методы хромато-масс-спектрометрии, гигантского комбинационного рассеяния (ГКР), биосенсорные системы).
5.    Изучение процессов трансформации различных групп антропогенных экотоксикантов.
6.    Прогноз и изучение биологически-активных свойств вновь синтезированных элементорганических соединений.
